Jennifer Rose

Jennifer’s academic background is in Gender Studies from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. They have extensive knowledge of gender and social justice, 2SLGBTQIA+ activism, trauma-informed care and practice, anti-oppression principles, political systems, diversity and inclusion, and community-centred work. 

Currently, they are coordinating Employment Programs with YWCA St. Johns. Jennifer is a Career Practitioner and Life Skills Facilitator. They help women and gender-diverse folks in their career development goals through a supportive employment programs for folks with barriers to employment.

During their time in university, they worked with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador (MUNL) as a Film Editor and Researcher, Event Planner, and Community Programs Assistant on various projects centring anti-colonialism, gender-justice, and anti-oppression. In 2018 and 2019, Jennifer worked with a local nonprofit, Thrive, as the Directory of Services Assistant, and Education Programs Assistant. In these roles, Jennifer researched and connected with over 200+ community organizations in NL.

Since 2019, Jennifer serves as a Board Director with ArtForce NL. providing governance to an incredible arts-based organization supporting youth in NL with their art and career goals.

Jennifer serves on the Leadership Team alongside a skilled group of professionals who are passionate about 2SLGBTQIA+ leadership development and volunteers as a Mentor for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth with Camp Eclipse through Planned Parenthood Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2019-2020 Jennifer volunteered with the Quadrangle NL PIVOT Health Advocacy Skills Program. In this program, the helped organize and moderate a 9-part webinar series centering inclusive sexual health care and education, and 2SLGBTQIA+ community activism.

Since 2021, Jennifer has been volunteering on the Equal Voice NL Leadership Team providing leadership and support to women and gender diverse folks who have an interest in the political ecosystem in NL.

Outside of these roles, Jennifer is a visual artist with a wide breadth of creative skills.
